I really like your paintings, Mary Lou!

Dennis, as I looked back on the thread with our Lesson #63 paintings, I actually did notice the combination of the abstract areas with the more tightly painted areas.

This was the first time I did a paint along and it didn't dawn on me at that time as I was too much 'in the moment'.

But just a few minutes ago, as I viewed Mary and Batman's paintings, it struck me how nice the skies and bushes juxtaposed with the building looked.  The combination of the flat, straight-lined surface surrounded by the loose, painterly areas gives real interest, and makes the building with the red roof even more the center of attention.

You can add my vote to others interested in painting abstracts.   O0

Lillian, reading your post, makes me realise just how little I know about painting.  You picked up on the juxtaposed position of the abstract with the formal if I can put it that way.  It never even came into my mind about those things so once again, I am learning.  It almost feels like I am being "awakened". Thanks Lillian.  Patricia

Good idea.  Good luck.  I bet they'll sell readily because you have a "name" around town now.

Brief update - I Had a good time at my art show yesterday - although most folks were at the winery to purchase wine vs art! I sold 4 pieces and one of the Oak Park Sign prints - plus I'm getting a commission to paint a picture of someone's wedding cake and possibly of someone else's grandfather.  And a lot of folks took my cards so we'll what happens next. It was great exposure and I learned a lot...
Cheers,
Sharon
