  • Hi everyone, I'm a grumpy old git from Wales.

I came across this photo when I was re-editing some photos that I took last summer. I was sitting on some rocks about 20 mtrs. or so away from the falls; my camera was set on manual focus so I wasn't looking at the lcd. but taking a series of photos at different camera settings; believe it or not I hadn't noticed the bird until I enlarged the photo to look at some details. My surprise visitor is a Dipper, a very shy bird who gets its food by walking along the river bottom turning over small stone to find aquatic insect larvae. I did this painting because I was so pleased to see the dipper and to remind myself to look more carefully at my photos ;o))

Painted on 12" x 9" Canson paper, using w&n Galeria acrylics.
th, th, th, that's all folks ;o)

I almost missed the dipper against the background! I can see why you may have missed him in your photo. Good shot!
Lovely work on this painting. Great waterfall and love the tree hanging in foreground. Good job.
Cheers, Val
