I came across this photo when I was re-editing some photos that I took last summer. I was sitting on some rocks about 20 mtrs. or so away from the falls; my camera was set on manual focus so I wasn't looking at the lcd. but taking a series of photos at different camera settings; believe it or not I hadn't noticed the bird until I enlarged the photo to look at some details. My surprise visitor is a Dipper, a very shy bird who gets its food by walking along the river bottom turning over small stone to find aquatic insect larvae. I did this painting because I was so pleased to see the dipper and to remind myself to look more carefully at my photos ;o))
Painted on 12" x 9" Canson paper, using w&n Galeria acrylics.
