Thank you all so very much for the kind words!! You make me feel so good. . . . thank you!
Thank You too Dennis, for having the patience to show how it's done. Probably at a time when you might have wished to be home unpacking!!
I hope I have pleased you with this attempt.
I think everyone's butterflies turned out really, really well there's not a dud in the bunch!
No cat tracks or spills or any other disasters this time around. . . . . yippee!!

Roxy, there is not a single one that I can really find any technical faults in.
I don't judge a beginner against an accomplished artist. I look at each one's abilities and judge accordingly. I found out years ago that encouragement and to criticise constructively is the best way to get quality fast.
Yep, I'm still in the throes of unpacking, but that does not stop me from giving you all the best that I am able to give. It is just that all the PDFs will have to wait for a while - sorry about that.

I have a problem with wet-on wet technique! When I apply the color to the wetted paper, the pigments are atracted to some area, and it looks like the paper is felted. What I am doing wrong? I am using to much water to wet the paper? Is the way I hold the brush?
I am using Strathmore 300 class, 140lbs, cold press, heavy weight. This is the one available in my area. My paint is Grumbacher - tubes-, and the brush is #10 Royal (I do not have a 12 for the moment). Thanks for any advise, Doina

It is difficult to always explain in writing what should actually be demonstrated live. I see quite a lot are struggling with this very same issue.
I've made a note in my diary to do another live practical demo on how to apply paint dry and wet paper and the techniques that go with it. I will announce the date at a later stage.

Guys, these are some of the most beautiful watercolor paintings I have seen. You can feel the love of doing them in each. Great, great job.

Dear NHC50:
I like your butterflies very much particularly the way you texured the
bottom half of the green background. The difference in tone gave the
painting a sense of depth. I paint mine last night but, now that I've seen
the effects of your background I'll have another go at painting it again.
Up to now I have been following along with the replays afraid to
add or take away from the basic lesson. Thanks for the inspiration.
Great job!

Thank you Mary Lynn,
It makes me feel good that I inspire others with my work. I never knew how to paint in watercolors until I came to Paint Basket. I have always used acrylics. Now it is hard for me to go back to them. Sometimes we have to come out of our comfort zone to learn. We just have to remember it is only a piece of paper wth some color on it. So what if you make a mistake, do it again. Remember just have fun.
Thank you Natalie.
