LESSON #58 - Painting Gondolas

Nice job everyone.. I took pictures of the gondolas in Venice.  These paintings brought back memories.
Val.. nice to see your face.  A flour bag dusting isn't a bad look... it's more beautiful every day after skin cancer.  Remember to wear your sunscreen and your hat!!  Anyway the beauty lies beneath.. and you already have that!

    did this today, thought I would try another painting but slightly different to what we did in the class, any comments or critique

Nice twist Jen     I had to make a few minor ... maybe some not so minor (  ) changes to mine. Got .. how should I put it? A wee bit mucked up trying to keep up  Have to sort out a few more background bits...and foreground bits...and paint the gondolas. See? Almost done! 

I like the water colour very much, what do you think about darkening the gondola hulls for a bit more contrast? I know...go ahead...give me the boot.

    val  good idea about darkening the hulls a bit more, will do that     by the way nice to be able to put a face to the name

Jenny...what a beautiful painting.  Great job.
Maybe just extend a couple of poles above the bridge a little higher....from a distance, it looks like the bridge is a canopy over the the boats.  I like it...would sure hang that up on my wall!!!

    retta,  good point about the poles, why is it that when your painting,  you don't see these things,   then put it on here you still don't notice? will correct that as well.  thank goodness for this forum

    Oh! Jennylynn, You are just so good. I love the gondolas and the different take on the painting for it doesn't seem to be quite so busy.  Lovely, lovely painting.  Patricia

    patricia you are too too  kind!   wanted to paint these gondolas again,  at a slower pace lol.  although I do love painting along with dennis

Jennylynn, You are so prolific.  I really like the very brilliant colors you chose for both paintings.  Seems appropriate for Italy.  Lovely.

   have adjusted gondolas painting on val's and roxy's advice, looks much  better.  I think the perspective is  much better now as regards the gondolas and the bridge    roxy.  and the hulls of the boats look much better now they are a deeper black     val

Gee, guess we'll have to start the w/c classes all over again for the next few weeks......OR.....take some wonderful pictures to paint!!
