LESSON #5 Colour Wheel

I just completed this lesson and I have to THANK Dennis for it. A truly wonderful lesson that ALL artists should do regardless of their skills level. Take the mystery out of colour mixing by following along with Dennis and Nolan. This will be the first of many colour wheels as I get to know my colours all over again. Had a chuckle when you mentioned how many tubes of paint you had. I too went mad and thought the more colours I had the better my paintings would be. My first paint set is full of 45 different colours! Pure madness! The truth is by limiting your paint purchases to a few different shades of the primary colours you will save yourself a load of cash and then be able to really get to know your colours and how to mix them. You will fast track your development by learning how to mix colours instead of hunting for that perfect ready to go colour. Cheers Dennis and Nolan a really worthy lesson.

I'm really glad I took the time to do this lesson today...I've done a couple of color wheels in the past - never truly understood the value of them until now. I really learned a lot about complimentary colors and especially am grateful to learn about how to create the appropriate shading colors...thanks for teaching this, Dennis!

I have done so many variations of colour wheels, I could publish a book! Of course not all of them are what I could call resounding successes....         I am much improved at mixing the colours I want (except greens! which are still a bit hit and miss) just have to get quicker at it....it's the only way I'll be able to keep up with the infamous D.L.Clark!

Mea  Thank you SO SO much, you have no idea how I battled with this colour wheel and it's still not perfect but much better than the first one. I am sure I can do a colour wheel with closed eyes.

Hello again:

First of all thanks for your help posting images - as you will see from below, it works

Which leads me into my first big question. The first screen clip shows a snap of a frame from the lesson video which is displaying and discussing what looks to be a very interesting lesson PDF.

The second screen clip shows the lesson's associated resources. As may be clearly seen the video's PDF is not in the list.

How do I get a copy of the lesson's PDF as shown in the video? This 'issue' seems common to other lessons as well.

Hello Dennis - thank you for your welcome. I have great expectations of your site.

I'm very disappointed that the PDF resources are not available to VIP members especially as I can find no hint or indication of this in the VIP FAQs nor anywhere else on the site where the VIP club is promoted. May I respectfully suggest that this is made clear in the FAQs and advertising in order to save 'later disappointment' as in my case.

Also maybe the webmaster might like to check his maths. In my maths class I learnt that a $199 annual subscription would give a saving of just $29 on an alternative of 12 monthly installments of $19 - not the $178 indicated in the graphic. [see screen clip].

Perhaps both the unannounced missing PDF resources and the considerable mathematical error on savings do not give entirely the impression you desire on what is, in all other aspects, an impressive and valuable online resource for budding artists.

I do hope you will be able to address these issues. I will continue with the courses due to their excellent content quality but others may not always have the same view. This would be a pity for both your business and their artistic learning.

BTW Your prompt responses are much appreciated and another great aspect of the site.
