Periwinkle blue

I love this color. Would love to hear from anyone who has mixed other blues to achieve this.

I just did a google search and had a difficult time coming up with anything.

And ehow.com explains this --  but it talks about mixing colors for icing a cake.  Maybe you can translate it into watercolor.   
Periwinkle is a  color in the blue/violet family. It is also known as lavender blue.

The  name is derived from the myrtle herb (Vinca minor), which bears flowers of this  color. According to A Dictionary of Color, the name "periwinkle" was first  recorded for this shade of blue in 1922.                  ---and---
Periwinkle is a color found in the blue-violet shades. Lighter periwinkle colors  appear to have a hint of gray in them, while darker shades of periwinkle are  predominately blue. Periwinkle crayons, for example, are in the blue family of  Crayola crayons and are one of America's Top 50 colors.

Thank you, Lillian! How about that? It never occurred to me that there was actually a premixed shade called periwinkle. I think I will try mixing cerulean + violet and cobalt + violet and see what happens. I have been growing periwinkle  for the past couple of years, and the shade of the little flowers is so pretty.  Thanks again.

Thank you Lillian for going the extra mile on our behalf.  There is just so much information to know and absorb ... my problem is with both the "knowing and absorbing".  This old brain has lost its elasticity!!!  I should not confess it with my mouth, now should I??      I will probably get into trouble with Dennis!!!      I should know better, for what you think about, you bring about.  Patricia

  Shake hands, Patricia!       I'm in that age bracket where the grey matter seems to be getting greyer!
I do seem to absorb things, problem often is in the retaining.  I'm always needing to remind myself and review information I've taken in before.
Oh well, I think doing art and learning new techniques is stimulating and hopefully those synapses in the grey matter keep on firing.
