The second is excellent Mea.
The highlight on the blue will set it off beautifully. That Dennis never misses a trick!

Mia, 2nd one looks realistic! Looks like it came out of the bucket in the frig of my florist shop (30 years ago), fresh and ready to use in an arrangement! Great job

Dennis and Val, Thanks for the suggestion on highlighting the blue on the bird of paradise. I tried a couple times and it didn't look right. The blue parts are so small that it's hard to make it look right. Will give it one more try.
Ooops, gotta sign it, too.
MSW Crane, thanks for saying it looked real - like in a flower shop.
Batman, thanks for the thumbs up. Your painting made me want to do mine over again.

Thanks, Dennis and Val, for suggesting the highlight on the blue parts (don't know the proper flora nomenclature for those parts).
I'm much happier with the way it looks now. Not perfect yet, but I'm learning. That's what's most important.
Even signed it!!

Beautiful. Now you just have to frame it and hang it.

Thanks, Val. I love birds of paradise -- can't you tell?
Should have made it the size of one of Doina's frames!!

Hi everyone, I have never tried oil painting, so this is my first. I can't decide if I like painting with oils or not. Bought a small set of water soluble so there was no odor as I do my art in my kitchen...This was done on a canvas panel.

Dear njnjgirl;
Your 'Bird of Paradise' painting is very nice! I have never worked on a panels before, is there an advantage to using them over a canvas? I use mostly WN Artisan Water solvable paints and find they have a slight odder but, easy to clean-up the brushes with soap and water. How did you find them?

I don't know much about canvases for oil paints, these panels are ready for paint, so that is why I used them. I found the water soluble paint fine. No odor and easy clean up. I did have a little problem mixing the paint, though, which I thought was strange. I have never used oil before so have nothing to compare it with.

Good job May Lynn
You've done a bang up job on all four of your paintings! I wish I could paint as quickly as you.... this would be a nonstop solid month's work for me.... and then there's the other three!
