I'd love to know what color mix you find most effective when painting sand.

I have used either a very light wash of yellow ochre, or raw sienna.

 The shore I am painting is a very light beige color. I did a very light wash of raw umber. I lightened some areas with a touch of yellow ochre and a wee bit of orange, and will darken others with just a touch of ultramarine blue.

I just had a look at my crashing waves..... Dennis is absolutely right... there's some very light cad. org. in there!  ;D
