LESSON #72 - Painting Azaleas
on:
August 25, 2013, 11:22:19 PM
Dennis, I would love to take the Azaleas class. I have no watercolors and very little money at the moment.
So I can't rush out and get all of the colors on your 'basic list', if I don't need them for this class.
Can you tell me what Colors, of watercolor paints, I will Absolutely need for this class. Also, what brushes do I need for the Azaleas class?
I do need to buy the other 'basic' supplies for starting watercolors. I know the paints and brushes are usually the most expensive items. However, I really need to keep it to the bare minimum for right now.
I will get your other listed 'basic' colors and brushes in the near future, but can't do it this week.

Sue, I will have to come back to you a bit later on because I normally only work out exactly what I'll be doing by the end of the week. I'll see what I can do in the next day or two as I also give day classes in my own studio as well as on the internet.

At a guess
I will be using Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine, Cadmium Yellow and Burnt Sienna. You will also need a sheet of 300gsm (140lb) watercolour paper, a #2 Rigger brush, a #4 round and a #8 or #10 round brush.
You will also need Masking fluid and some masking tape (instruction for it will be with the template when it is uploaded).

Gosh, I had a disaster!! My masking fluid tore my paper and took all my inner markings of the flowers away. I just had an outline, I went to pieces and while I managed to finish the paint a long, it is too much of a mess to submit. However, it was a lovely exercise and thank you Dennis. I shall be doing it again and will post my second attempt. Patricia

Come on Patricia... I've got a major trainwreck here! Hid the caulies...but looks like snake in the grass!
I can't begin to tell you what colours got thrown in. Let's have a boo at your abstract.
