Has anyone tried Soho Watercolor Paint? They are so inexpensively price, I'm thinking they are student grade. I'm getting ready--if I can find the  $$$--to move up to a better grade paint than the Grumbacher Academy paints I have been using. But I'm unsure about Soho.   :thankyou:

BeaSue, if you look at RexArt right now they have a sale on Daler-Rowney Aquafine watercolor for $2.98 one tube of 7.5ml (same size as Grumbacher). Below I'll add the link to the site. In USA shipping is about $7.75 up to $30 purchase. You can buy 10 tubes. As far as I understand this is the watercolor Dennis is using. I use Grumbacher and I am very please with them. Try RexArt, Doina

Thanks so much, Doina. Good to know!

Since I first posted, I wrote to my local art teacher, from whom I will be taking art classes again this fall. She told me that the Soho brand is the student grade paint sold by Jerry's Artarama. Their professional grade paint (which, she said, is much cheaper than Winsor Newton) is Lukas. I think Lukas may be similar to Daler Rowney's Aquafine.

Yes! I just purchased a batch of Lukas paints, and qualified for 15% discount on my order PLUS free shipping! I'm glad to be stepping up to a better grade of paint. And I have the palette of colors I need for the class I'm taking here locally in a few weeks. It's very similar to the colors that Dennis uses.
