Well everyone,

This the kickoff of a second distinct series of paintings. This one is "Pure Abstractions".

I had a bunch of largish (this one 1010mm x1010mm) stretcher bars and a roll of canvas that I'd bought probably two years or so ago with big plans.

This one is #1 - In The Beginning and it is an Acrylics on 1010 x 1010mm  hand stretched canvas and is the biggest painting I have produced to date.

Let me know what you think.

Chris,

First, how did the interview go?

Great timing for this new series - wasn't today (or yesterday?) the anniversary of the writing of the Star-Spangled Banner?

Very patriotic piece.  Colorful and powerful.  I like it?

Hi Mea

The interview went okay, just waiting now.
Not very patriotic really, because I'm Australian!!!  :2funny: :2funny: :2funny:

The name was meant to lead to what my intention was, however, that is the good thing about Abstract - it can mean anything to anyone. Both my sister and parents think it looks like fireworks...

 :thankyou: Bhavna
:thankyou: Bev, I'm not a Trekkie, I know what you mean. The name came from two thoughts - this is the first in this series, and also a reference to the Big Bang...
:thankyou: Natalie, just wait til I get around to the ones based on photos of fireworks I have taken!!!
:thankyou: Nolan. My intention is for all these to receive the same glossy method of finishing all mine do. 3 layers of Polymer Gloss and a non water-based, Final Gloss varnish.

The method I used to work from was to get some glad wrap, apply some different paints in an approximate colour scheme (ie blue edging reddish centre with white highlights) fold it over and squish it round a bit and scan both sides. Then played with the scans in Photoshop and Fotosketcher to give me a reference!!!

:thankyou: Val. Nail on the head stuff - the gasses starting to form our universe... Although, admittedly it was just a bunch of paint squished in some cling wrap. Hardly something of epic proportions by comparison!

:thankyou: Sharon. Looks like my 'big' stuff is a big hit. :2funny: :2funny: :2funny:
