My first portrait. Wow, it takes a special kind of skill to get the likeness of someone! Glad I purchased the wc portrait classes this weekend. All of your posted portraits are so well done.

Happy painting everyone  :)

:thankyou:  Retta, Mary Lou, Patricia, Jill, Nina and Val,  :thankyou:

I never would have attempted portrait painting except for this man. There is something about him that made me want to capture the look in his eyes. So, I thank him and Dennis for opening me up to learn something new.

Denise, I so agree!  I am just taken in by that man's eyes, too!  Something about him is so sympathetic, I think that is the right word. I think you will understand my meaning.  I can't wait to do this one but I have a while to go...

Mary Lou, yes I completely understand your meaning. Wouldn't it be great to hear his life story! For now, we'll have to just imagine .....

Tania, thank you. I bet many of us were drawn by this photo. Wonder what our Kehla is doing these days .....

Thank you so much Lynn. As much as I see things that are off in my painting, I was surprised that it came out better than I expected. It's really sinking in that portraits really take painting to another level. A different curve on a leaf or petal compared to the photo is one thing, but a little different curve on a nose, eye or lip can be disastrous! LOL

Patricia, besides the November mixed media challenge, did you know you also won the "Best Encourager" prize!?

Bless you Denise and Mary Lou for those kind words.  I am so pleased that I am able to encourage you both and hopefully others, as it makes me so very happy to see that people are happy and fulfilled too, for that is the way it should be.  It uplifts me and besides, it is so nice to be able to tell people that they are doing well in their endeavours. Seeing their excellent work and potential gives me encouragement in what I am doing, for I strive to be as good as what they are.   :thankyou:  both very much, I appreciate it immensely.   Patricia
