:thankyou:  Jill for your kind comments.  I actually darkened the sand as was suggested by our members and it made all the difference to the painting for the boat showed up so much better.  Patricia

I'm definately done with this for now, otherwise I'll take it out back and hose it down. Might still do that anyway. Just a total mess.

Cheers, Val

The only reason I'm posting this is to give some newbie confidence in that they can do better.   I cannot get my head around painting trees.  Not giving up I WILL Learn to paint trees and bushes!

Jillh,

There's kind of a mystical quality about this.  Kind of haunting.  Good background for a mystery.

Thanks, Val - after my original completion I had to go back and add more yellow to brighten up the scene...always enjoy the paintings for the techniques learned regardless if I like the outcome!

Sharon

That's the way it works! If we're not making mistakes....we're not doing anything...if we're not doing anything...
we're not learning anything. That must mean I'm learning LOTS!  ;D

Geez, Jill, I am sorry, I thought I had commented on your painting and it looks as if I never.  My humble apologies.  I thought that your painting was very well done and I don't think there is anything wrong with your trees.  Good job.  Patricia

Isn't it wonderful how that happens Sharon?  I have all my recent paintings 'masking' taped to a big white board and it encourages me to see them, for while I am no expert, I am so happy with how much I have progressed in a very short time and I will always be grateful to Dennis, Nolan and our forum members without whom, I could never have achieved this.  I deem myself very blessed to have found the Paint Basket.  Patricia

In additional to having my paintings on the walls, I also have them all on my iphone as well - I love going through them, especially since I can really see the progress I've made in such a short time because of the PB classes - and everyone's recommendations for edits.  And I agree - I'm very glad I found PB - and sad that the watercolor classes are ending.  Luckily I've quite a few I still need to do.  Dennis is indeed a treasure and such a talented teacher...
Cheers,
Sharon
