Thank you everybody for the lovely comments.
It is very different from painting as you can't mix your colours beforehand. You really have to look at a reference pic and decide what colours and in what order you are going to lay them down. The reason I got into CP was that you can pick them up and put them down at any time - no waiting for things to dry, no hairdryer, no clean-up.
The slight downside is that it takes far longer to complete a picture.
Anyway, back to the drawing board.
Thanks again.

Ray, WOW. I especially love the mortar and pestle because of the wood grain. just gorgeous.

Really smooth work there Ray.
I've got a big tin of Prismacolors and a few black drawing pads and white ones and "The Ultimate Guide to Colored Pencils" and have yet to crack them out. The time factor is probably the deterrent.
Congratulations on the start for you though.
Batman.

Thank you Lynn, Batman and Dennis.
You're right Batman, it does take a lot of time to get it right but you can spend a few minutes at a time over several days/weeks. Don't wait until you retire, you'll have even less time then - believe me!

We'll Ray who would of guessed. You are one talented man. Awesome job on your work.
I have never tried colored pencils. I have some though. How did you get started in them?

Excellent, Ray just excellent!
I am truly impressed! I know how difficult it is to get CP's to "behave". You have a magic touch and an awesome eye for the details. Your advice to Batman is spot on. . . do it now, you'll never find the time once you retire. . . . just ask me!!!
