Here is the latest of the American Wild Flowers that I just finished. On this drawing I used Prismacolor pencils. Steven I took your advise and I tried to draw with the "good" pencils. It was a pleasure to work with them, soft, consistent, and seems that they were working by themselves. Please comment for improvement. Thank you, Doina

I'm glad you're having so much fun painting with coloured pencils, Doina!

This one's lovely and will be a nice pair with the trumpet flowers.

What paper are you using?   :nosey: nosey me here again.   :)

Thanks Patricia, I  had a lot of fun today with pencils. There are about 50 flowers in the book. I intend to do some more. I will enter them in 2014 State Art Show. The paper I used on the first one was Strathmore Sketch 8.5x11 inches, 50lb. On the second I used Art Alternatives 8.5x11 inches, 70lb. I did not have anything at home. Now I am waiting to get Pentalic Meridian 90lb, 9x12 inches from Daniel Smith. I hope that I will do better. Thanks again, Doina

:thankyou: for the info on the paper you are using.  It's great to experiment and find out what works best.
When you do, would you please let us know?  I haven't heard of the last two brands.

Keep up the nice work and most of all, enjoy!

May I ask what book you are referring to?  Will there be any copyright issues when you enter the show?

It is a Dover Publication copyright in 1971. Title: American Wild Flowers Coloring Book. Author is Paul E Kennedy and he has drawn these flowers from the painting of individual plants prepared by Mary Vaux Walcott, and published by Smithsonian in 1925. The publishing house makes the following statement: "Up to four illustrations from this book may be reproduced on any one project or in any single publication, free and without special permission. Wherever possible please include a credit line indicating the title of the book, artist and publisher. For more extensive use of illustration please address the publisher for permission.'

I'm glad you checked out re copyright, Doina.

This looks like a nice book.  Enjoy those lovely flowers and enjoy the experience of entering the show!  You can proudly display your work.

Who knows, you just might get commissions!  You just might become a very busy girl!
