Yes there will be a replay available in about a day or so.  If you missed the live class you can see it then.

The Chat Box is really a bonus to the Lesson and does not have to be part of the Lesson in order to receive value to one's knowledge and the opportunity to further one's ability and potential to the arts.

We have gone to great lengths to offer members the very best there is on the internet as far as viewing quality is concerned plus a lot of other benefits that are not that obvious at first glance.

I have a question. I was given a roll of pastel paper that's about 4 feet long, wrapped around a cardboard tube. When I cut sheets out of it it's curled, I've tried rubbing it against a table edge on the opposite side from the curl but it's still got some curvature to it. Does anyone have a foolproof, works everytime method of straightenng this stuff??
It's really nice paper a sandy brown with beautiful texture and tooth, hate to waste any of it.
Thanks
Brian

You can roll it backwards, I've done that with w/c paper. Or tape it down to a board. Both have worked for me.
Cheers, Val

:thankyou:  Dennis, this was my first live class and I was very excited. I enjoyed it very much. I'm now looking forward to the next lesson.

Where is the PDF? I have gone to my list of classes and all I have is a purple bar marked Pastels, but no listing of the class. I really enjoyed the live class and am looking forward to the next 2. :help:

In all our classes, if there is a PDF available,  it will only be available a few days after the actual lesson together with the replay which first needs to be edited and then uploaded to Youtube before it can  be released for viewing.

In every case an email will be sent to all the participants when they are ready.

Brian, you can iron paper - I do it all the time.  Cut a piece and experiment - try ironing from the back and be sure the iron is completely dry and can't spit water and gunk on it.

:thankyou: Dennis, for that fine educational Introduction to Pastels! A lot of information packed into the class and a lot of stuff I didn't know about paper even. . .  ;D
Question: how compatible is pastel with graphite?  As you mentioned, soft goes over hard; then I would guess that pastel  goes over graphite. . .right?  Same with coloured pencils?
Can't wait for next Sunday. . .well, it will be Monday for you, we are somewhat behind you being way over here in Canada. . .  :2funny:

:thankyou: I just had a little peek in the replay. Loaded with information. And the viewing qualitiy is great too. Going to watch the whole replay tomorrow. Thanks Dennis and Nolan.

I still wonder why  it wasn't available on youtube in my country. The banner said something about music copyright reasons. In the bits of the replay I have already rushed through I haven't found the sequence yet where Dennis is singing and tapdancing while Nolan is playing the fiddle. :cheering: I will be very disappointed if I find out that those sequences have been cut out.

Thank you Dennis - I am so used to seeing the lessons already packaged, that I forgot live classes have to be edited.

 :thankyou:

Bev, soft pastel can be used over coloured pencil as long as it has not been heavily burnished.

Graphite is another story. When trying to get a dark value in graphite it gets very shiney at times because of the pressure applied to the paper. Once that shine is there then the pastel has difficulty adhering to it and because pastels has a mat finish the shine of the pencil lines show up.
