Alice,
Your farm house pastel is beautiful. Such fine detail. Your tree between the house and outbuilding really shows the separation between the two buildings nicely.
I am reading all kinds of strange things into the bluish/pink shapes in the background on the left side. Is it clouds? If so, they are telling quite a story.

Dear Bev S.
I would give your foray into pastel painting a little bit more time. I am struggling with
this medium also, but, remember it's just the beginning. I felt the same way about
art in general when starting with PB 1 1/2 year ago. Today I am amazed at the chances
it has made to my thinking and confidence.
.
Hang in there and give it a little longer!!!

Dear Alice L. Lenke;
I love your 2nd rendition of the old farm house. It is has much more character than the first.
Both are very nice, but, my favorite is your 2nd attempt. Just a thought!!!

Thank you all very much for your super nice comments and kind supportive thoughts! I see now where I just forgot to do the right hand side of the house
oh dear.. . . . and that thing on the left hand side??? where did that come from?
May Lynn thank you for your encouragement. . . . you are probably right. . .can't give up after the first time, that wouldn't be the thing to do!!

Wow! Everyone has done such a great job. I'm really impressed by all of you who kept up with Dennis, I'm still working on mine.
Dennis, I'll keep your advice in mind as I proceed.
I have a day off tomorrow so I'll try to keep up with the rest of you.

I've finally finished the FarmHouse. Still struggling with this medium but I'll keep trying.

I like it Dorothy
it reminds of a clear winters day with the sun trying its hardest to shine through, The kind of day with fresh clean air.
I like how the colours blend together and I think your shadows are well done.

Those who are "struggling" are still doing a fabulous job with the new medium. Soon it will be "old hat"
Keep at it and soon you will surprise yourself. I think with the next class I will show you my very first effort for motivation

Wow Dorothy, your farmhouse looks just great
and I LOVE it
. I really have to start mine, but being busy with some swaps that has to go this week, keeping me from drawing
But looking at all that is done this week by all of you...I have to take a break from handsewn Matryoshka dolls, ATC's and Matchboxswap...need some pencils and pastels to bring some peace and fun. Thanks for the inspiration Dorothy, maybe Il be able to do some on my farmhouse.

Dorothy,
Your farmhouse is beautiful. I love the nice warm tones. Really like the distinctive way you write your initials.

Another well executed farm house
Just be careful in trying to outline everything, Oana. The two edges of the small building must show the separation only by the change of colour - in other words, by the bright sunshine in the one wall and the darker shadow in the other wall. The very left edge should also not have an outline. Otherwise well done

Well here is my very first Pastel work. But of course I shall not make any negative comment. Because Dennis will come to Kansas and turn me over his knee.
