Here is my child portrait drawing for the lesson. The photograph is lighter than the actual drawing. not too good with my camera settings

Win,
This is so well done. Great eyes; so expressive.

Nicely done Win.
I always find it interesting how people interpret drawings, especially portraits. I think most, if not all of the drawings give a stern almost angry impression. What I see when I look at Nolan's drawing is a much more pensive, apprehensive look. Out of the many portraits I have attempted, I think I have only honestly captured the emotion of the subject twice. Maybe a few hundred more goes.... and I might even get it right!

Thanks Patricia and Val.
I tried hard to capture the expression of the original photo in the eyes but as you say its not easy Val they are something one has to keep practicing at. Maybe it will get easier with time
hopefully before a few hundred Val

I know when I first tried doing portraits I always started with the eyes, I still do actually. I used to leave the drawings of the eyes stuck up all over the place. Lloyd finally said I had to take them down... said it was too eerie if he got up at night and there were all these eyes watching him with no faces!
I have some owl eyes I've been practicing.... perhaps I should stick up a few of those...
