Elize,
Good on the onions and garlic! The background doesn't do them justice, though. I personally hate doing dark backgrounds on a drawing - hard to make them look attractive.
Hmmm, other than cross-hatching, does anyone have a good suggestion for dark backgrounds?

Ann-mari, Sally and Mea
Thank you for the feedback! It is just amazing to see how one grows and develop skills to see like an artist!!!! A week or two ago, actually when the class started I'd thought that I would never be able to draw the onions.
I agree on the background..... I actually regret starting with it. Must first asked help!!! But that is how we learn.
Have a nice day!!!

Beautiful Elize
To go the background more even, just continue to add more layers, each one in a different direction.

I'm late chiming in, yes do as Nolan says and keep layering to smooth it out nice and dark. Then your onions will pop right off the page.
Excellent job so far.

everybody for the nice replies and advice - it is really welcome and I use every single word of it!!!
Hope you experience the same satisfaction I experienced. Wednesdays are my art-day - can not wait to start a Wednesday morning for my appointment with Paint Basket. My husband thinks that our parrot, Charlie, speaks like Nolan

That's funny that Charlie sounds like Nolan.....but does he have a 30 second rewind?
I've got a vision of poor Charlie spinning about on his perch to repeat!

Wouldn't worry too much at this point Ginger. Look at it this way, with your fingerprints all over it...nobody can steal your homework!
