Really good eyes.
The top one reminds me of my own early attempts because Dennis rightly pointed out that the pupil has to be EXACTLY in the center of the iris and I made the same error you have in yours!
The bottom one is really good, I don't think it looks like Elephant skin at all, but exactly what you drew, an elderly persons eye. If you don't like it just soften the hard edges a little with a blending stick of your finger tip.

Thank you very much everyone for your comments.  I can see what you mean about the pupil - it makes the eye look a bit squiffy
