I'm so glad you subscribed to OLA, Teresa. I really enjoy my membership. What is nice is that I can watch classes and learn even when I don't have time to pull out my paints etc. Watching classes is much better than evening television.
You did great with the intro lesson. Your barrel is perfect. I look forward to your next posting of whatever class you play with next.

OK, you folks convinced me to give pen and ink a try. I am taking the easy approach, though, and bought a set of STAEDLER pigment fine liners. Six sizes .005 to .08.
I love how smoothly they glide over the paper. Have started my first sketch journal on Strathmore Drawing paper, 8 x 10, 80lb. paper.
Once I get set to do a finished piece, what is a better paper to use? I want to try line and wash, so need something that can take a little watercolor.
Here are some drawings from Dennis's Intro lesson. I look forward to doing more of the practice pages, but just wanted to get started with something to show you.
Details
My barrel is kind of skinny and wonky! BUT, I loved using the pens!! (

Woot woot, Mea! You did it! Don't the pens feel wonderful in your hand and on the paper? I really enjoy the Micron pens. I'm sure they'd are like the ones you have. I tried the dip pen. Not my fav but maybe over time.
Watercolor paper is good just remember the texture as you use your pens. I'm sure Dennis or Gita will have good paper suggestions for you. I can't wait to see what you do with this.

You're well on you way, Mea
I just use the watercolor paper I've used for all the lessons.

Nice practice, Mea!
Strictly for drawing, I would give the Strathmore Bristol smooth texture a go. I've only used it with graphite, but it takes very fine lines well. Good for realistic drawing. I heard the hot press watercolor paper is good for line and wash. Again, really good for detail.

Good start Mea. I have used everything from printer paper, drawing paper, to w/c paper. The ink works well on all of them.
For any line & wash whether pencil or ink, I use #140 cp w/c paper.

Thanks, KathyS, Dennis, Steve, and Val.
I have plenty of WC paper (140lb.) so will use that. Do you suggest front or back side for the line/wash work?
I am really excited about this, so I am hoping to do the next PB pni lesson from the Lesson Plan today.
Thanks, Dennis, for adding pni to my repertoire!

I have found the front of #140 cold press works great. If it is #140 rough, I think I'd consider the back side.
You may want to do a couple of little test strips to see which you prefer.
