I finally got to the Golden Eagle in Pen & Ink. Oh boy, she looks mean. I know it is a female because she has a large brood patch going on there.   Everyone has done such a great job on their eagles. Thank you Dennis!!

Thank you everyone..it was fun and I got into a zone of some kind with paper and pen. Natalie..a brood patch is the area on a birds chest that actually has a split in the feathers where the skin is bare and surrounded by soft down. This is the area where the parent wiggle the eggs into to incubate with their warmth. The patch is found on both parents, but is much more predominant on the female...she is the main incubator. Have you ever seen a bird get situated over their eggs and then wiggle and wiggle?  The eggs are getting next to their skin. Thanks for asking.

Thank you Carol for the explanation-I just thought she had a pot belly.  From now on I'm going to refer to my tummy as a brood patch.  ;D

Ai, excellent rendering. The only problem is that you made the neck area too thick.
