I must say they are both are doing an excellent job
In Ryan's, drawing the background should have been very thin and light - his rose is excellent though.

Thank you all for the encouragement. Yes Dennis, I note that others have light hatching as a background. I might have Ryan do some shading exercises with this.

Beautiful work Ryan & Rachel
How did you like using the ink instead of graphite?

Ryan finds working with pencils a lot easier but Rachel finds ink much better!

It's good that they each find their own path.
How boring would it be if we all did/used the same thing!

Carmel,
Welcome to Paintbasket. You have found a great place to learn and enjoy art.
Wow, you were brave to try Pen and Ink for your first attempt, but you did a wonderful job. Lovely petals and you even did the waterdrops well.
Hope we see lots more of your work.

Thank you Mea
I Followed Dennis' class with black ink, then added colored ink with a little pastel shading around exterior of rose. Love this medium. Carmel

Hi Carmel!
to PB
You've done a great job on the rose, looks fabulous with the colour.
Have you been involved in art very long? What medium(s) have you worked with? There's some
nosy people about this place!
Look forward to seeing many more of your works.

Thank you Val for your interest. I have been watching PB for a couple of years now but have other hobbies -cross stitch, knitting, gardening, that I love as well. I managed to draw maybe 10 hours a month with pen and ink, pastels, and watercolour as my mediums. Then I decided to take Nolan's Hobby to Business course and realized that I have a ton to learn. Now I have to decide- am I going to get serious and study these classes-not necessarily to make money, but more to see if I can get good at this .Just skimming the surface is the easy way out...Thanks again and see you in class.Carmel

Hi all, I've done several roses over the last few days. Although there is still a lot mistakes on this rose I wanted to show this to you..... then I don't feel alone
I would like some advice from you
. Unfortunately I do not have the right pens and ink. In the small town where we stay there is not much choices!
