I'm really happy with how this one has turned out, in fact I'm sure my late husband and myself have sat on the beach not far from where the reference photo was taken enjoying a picnic. And I'm sure those seagulls are the ones who stole sandwiches from me too

It's lovely, Fiona, and so very peaceful.  The shading made such a difference, and I love the seagulls on the beach.  Wonderful!!

looks like too much white on your waves.. but.. I've not seen the original photo so.... don't take what I say as truth.. lol   love your sky!

I think lin is right - too many waves.  Need more ocean.  Maybe more texture on the cliffs, too.

The best thing to do is go back to the reference photo and look at one section at a time and match it to yours. 

It'll be good when done as it is shaping up nicely.

I agree about too many waves. I think it is some chaos in the wave direction too.
I think I will have to start this drawing from scratch to make it better.

Before starting from scratch, maybe try putting in more blue ocean between a few waves and see how that goes.
