I have a couple paintings at auction. Does anyone know of a way to mail a 16 x20 stretched canvas? You may have a better idea
thanks for the help. Carol

Yes,
http://www.amazon.com/Taking-Leap-Building-Insiders-Exhibiting/dp/0811850935/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1406177624&sr=8-1&keywords=taking+the+leap+art
This book "Taking the Leap" by Ms. Cay Lang covers EVERYTHING that you ever need to know about doing art as a business, or a goal, or whatever. She has taught classes on it and gives you every single little tip she knows. It's great!
She suggests using masonite, 2 inches larger than the canvas all around to protect the edges. Put your painting in an archival sleeve with a little hole in it to let out the air. Lay your painting on one board and secure it with stretchy plastic, or something similar, and pad the canvas. Place the other board on top to make a sandwich and wrap it again. Place it all in a box and INSURE IT TO THE FULL VALUE. Don't go cheap. Use UPS or another carrier other than the post office if you can. Be sure to add all the shipping stuff in the price.
She really knows her stuff and I trust her judgement and advice.
If you can't find the sleeves locally, you can get them online at

If you have a local Hobby Lobby, you can go to the framing department and get boxes the perfect size for the painting. Free! They are just going to throw them away.

You can also use
Corriboard
instead of masonite - cheaper and lighter
