Didwaud--You are doing just great!!! Keep going

Sharon--What a wonderful shad of red and the seeds are so realistic.  I would be inclined to fade the shadows out as you get away from the berry though.

Thanks Lynn! How does one fade out shadows in acrylic  after it's dried? I know how to do it in watercolor! Would appreciate any tips!

Sharon

On that background you just use neat white and then blend it over as the amount of paint reduces the colour you have underneath will show through the white.....(Hope that make sense it's a bit hard to say what I mean)  :crazy2:

So paint over what you don't want with the background colour (in this case white) when as you work inwards don't add any more paint but work the paint across until there is faint colour showing through the white and then full colour where you want the shadow to be.

Whoever said "It's as slow as watching paint dry" was obviously not an acrylics painter

Thanks everyone  - I'm glad I dipped my toe into the acrylics pool - and will be diving into the club next! And I didn't have the red Nolan has in the house - I actually used a mish mash of reds from various tubes in my collection!

Jackie - I'll try what you suggest with the white. Or perhaps I should just paint the entire background black??!!?
Cheers,
Sharon
