I still get in a kettle with the warm and cool at times. I understand the theory, but the eyes just don´t pick up the subtle nuances sometimes. I don´t always get the colours quite right, but I sure can muck them up with the best of them! So much fun there ought to be a law! :2funny:

I think colors are great, including dark, dull background. I like the braun. That's how you paint a pro portrait.  :clap: :clap: :clap:  I would re-consider the whole composition. Considering what you want to tell about your mom, I would think over whether a close-up is the best option. I would probably paint a bigger painting with a clearly outlined furniture. Meaning: the surroundings would emphasize that your mom is an artist. And I would keep dark background all around plus warm light on the scene.  ;) :sweat: :gl:
