Hi folks, I found this old car on a recent trip we took to the coast. My question is, do I need to put some blockers i.e. bushes or something at the ends of the horizon line, or is there enough going on to keep the eye in the picture. I should probably mention that the clumps of grass is called spinifex and grows all over the outback here in Western Australia. The photo has also come out a bit darker than reality.

O0 This is awesome Neil!  The trees frame/block the car in nicely.

Yes   :1hug: not only another acrylic painter but another Aussie too!   And yes I know the colour you are going for in the dirt.....I got the Atelier Red/Gold and I find with a bit of tweaking you can get that "red dirt" we know so well here.   I painted dirt that colour and was told by someone that it wasn't "realistic" and that "no dirt is that red" and I asked if they had ever been to the "Outback" and they said No....I said well I have, and this is exactly what it's like.

You come across scenes like this all over the place in Australia and I really like what you have done...I would not add more trees.....it's the outback!  There are very few trees!  As an Aussie, I would say you have captured an outback scene perfectly and I wouldn't change a thing!
Jackie

Whoever said "It's as slow as watching paint dry" was obviously not an acrylics painter

I agree with Natalie .........The two trees around the car frame it,  keeping the viewer locked on the car area as center of attention ..... just enough information at the horizon for acknowledgement.     :)

Another great painting Neil.   :yippee:

Thanks very much Didwaud and Nat for taking the time to look and comment.
Jackie, Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, oi, oi, oi! You are so right, even the spinifex can look unrealistic and uniform to those who have not experienced it,  and the red dirt, well what can I say, it stains everything permanently including the car tyres.  :2funny: Thanks so much for your input, it  was much appreciated. :thankyou:

Neil,  wow as always your painting are so beautifull and well detailled. I would not touch it, it is perfect. :congrats:

In Prince Edward Island, Canada, there is also red/orange sand like that, also white, white sand in different areas,  I was amazed of those colours here in Canada when I visited it many years ago.

  • SMILE, It's a brand new day!
The only thing I can see is perhaps a check on some of the shadings on the trees, other than that....Brilliant.  O0

Excellent job Neil.
