And now for lesson three. I'm starting to feel that I'm beginning to get some control with the acrylics. After I posted the painting, I decided I didn't like the way I cropped the photo. I think I'll redo it tomorrow.

As always, I'm open to your comments and criticisms.

Nice job, Steve.  Nice background.  Inside of the cup looks really good (even though it's coffee, which I do not drink).

 Nice work on the cup of espresso, Steve. I'd just been thinking that you hadn't posted anything new in a while and here it is!  ;) How are you enjoying the acrylics? I really like watercolor though I'm still more comfortable with pencil drawing. It all takes time to learn. You are doing great!  :painting:

Thanks, Mea. I drink coffee, but not expresso. It's a little too strong for me. Usually I have one cup of coffee in the morning and some green tea in the afternoon. But when its hot, I like iced tea.

Thank you, Kathy. The acrylics are getting better. The big problem is that they dry pretty quickly, so you have to learn how frequently to spritz the palette or the painting. And, like other mediums, there is a learning curve. So far I've done the strawberries, the apples and now the coffee. I notice some improvement with each. Time to go back to the graphite for a bit. I miss my pencils :)

Yes and yes! I agree with you about the learning curve! You learn very quickly.  :) I also understand about missing the pencils. I go back to them between every one or two paintings.  Pencil drawings are so relaxing to do.  (We need a pencil emoji)

I thought this would be a fun one to do. I still want to have a go at it in w/c. Might be a good starting exercise to get me going again.

You've done a lovely job on it, Well done.
Cheers, Val

Your cup of coffee looks really realictic, Steve. You seem to enjoy acrylics. And the background is pretty cool with those visible brushstrokes.  O0

Thanks, everyone, for the encouragement. I do enjoy the acrylics and also graphite/charcoal. Sometime the year I want to try watercolors as they also look like they are fun.
