Of course I was joking Val.... and calling myself ignorant (of the technicalities of pastel!), not suggesting you would say such a thing. Ignorant was used in the harmless original sense, not the emotive one! dear me.... what an awful thought!  :o  :o :o :o I tried pastel a few times and couldn't stand the dust. So I never pursued the methods of getting the best out of it. That's all I meant. Since I included Mea with me in the ignorant category, I hope she will forgive me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :flowers: :flowers: as apologies to you both!!!!

Crikey.... now there's two of us with a deranged sense of humour....we're all doomed!  :2funny:

Love the colours you using on the tree painting Val, i think its a pretty decent job so far,  with the added layers its sure to be a winner.
I personally am not keen on the textured WC paper for pastels and I do like the sanded paper but it sure eats up your pastels at an alarming rate. I like a semi rough smooth texture at this stage of my pastel journey.

Thank you Win. I managed a bit more yesterday between the squalls!  :boat:   I'll see about posting it today before I do anymore.

I don't think I'll ever get rid of all of the texture on this paper  I'll go back to using w/c paper for w/c!  ;D

When I'm through with this experiment, my next paper adventure will be back to the Mi Teintes. This time I will use the smoother back side and lightly sand it before I start. Apparently that gives it a light fuzzy texture and increases the holding power for more layers but still gives a nice smooth finish.
So much to try and to learn! Loving it!!!  :yippee:

Here's pt.2   Darkened and smoothed the sky a bit more. I think one more layer to get it right. Filled in tree on the right, stuck a few grasses down in the right corner. That is going to need more work!  :nunchucks: I'll get it whipped into shape. The path is filled in more and a bit better defined.

I think I'm going to have a go at popping in some spring flowers. Quite enjoying this making it up as I go.  :heeha:

    Coming along beautifully Val.  I love the way you have smoothed the sky and am looking forward to seeing the finished painting after you have performed your magic.

Val, what I would do, is just smooth the grass area a little for I think it has too much texture but that's just me.  Patricia

;D   I knew I could count on you for some input!  :flowers:    I am in total agreement, I'm not too fussy about all that paper texture either. I'm thinking some less textured grassy bits and ooh, ooh,  perhaps a carpet of bluebells. I'm starting to like this pastel business!   :painting:         :2funny:

Val, I too love pastels and the more you use them, the more you will love them.  You are doing so well with them which is exciting to see.
