Internet is least of my worries at the moment. Picked up my computer yesterday....worked for 10min. and locked up. Got it going again and had it running for hours. Then this morning....locked up again. Back to the shop on Monday.

Sorry Sara... I used to work for a computer company years ago. Trust me, there isn't much that is rustproof or corrosionproof in computers. I guess we all get a bit corroded as we get older. Better go oil my joints so I don't rust.

I have been following the great Live Online Tulip tutorial. It is so much fun and a great way to learn. I am not using oils yet. So I have been doing mine with acrylics. this makes it a little tough for blending for me. But I am getting practice.
After having painting this so far. I find that I don't like the background. It is really "Peachy" in color and way to much warm tones for the overall painting to me. I am planning on going back and redoing the background in a blue-ish grey color to cool things down. I hope this will change the picture to be more subtle and inviting. Lets hope so. Any comments on this idea of change. Overall I am pleased with the rest. I bet with more practice and maybe some acrylic medium to slow down the drying process. I think I can make more strides towards a better painting.
Thanks again to you guys for the free tutorials. they are really helpful.
I can't wait to finish this one and do the sunset picture. Ooops "Meowrrrr" cats out of the bag.
Take care all.

Loved that video Nolan! I changed my mind about doing my next one and instead will attempt that tulip. I think I can do it! This will be a good start by putting these concepts into practice rather than just finding it interesting to watch because I know I'll not have the same re-inforcement I'd have by doing it. Then, when I come across anything simliar again, I'll know what to do. Should start within a week or so when I get my new board in. I really have no strong foundation and this will set me on the right path.

The moment you find yourself mostly satisfied with a painting and think you'll "just quickly" do this or that, that's the moment to stop completely. Take the painting off your easel and put it aside for at least 24 hours, then reassess whether it really needs that tweak.
