Nolan,

I just watched the "Cloud Painting Class".  For the Wet on Wet, oil base demo; I could not understand which  base blue color you used.  Was it "Taylor" ?

Phthalo blue - pronounced thay-lo or thaa-lo. (Sometimes spelt Thalo.)

So I finally got to the cloud lessons.  :yippee: So far I have had two goes at the wet on wet and have the background drying for wet on dry.

I still need lots of practice but I think I definitely improved with the second attempt.   :) The bottom clouds I still have lots of work to do.  What can I do to improve those ones and what else can I do to improve my clouds overall

As always I wait in hope for your critique and feedback  :flowers: :thankyou:  ops nearly forgot to add paintings  :2funny:

They are both painted on canvas paper as I didn't want waste my canvas boards

Lisa,

Off to a great start with your clouds.  I, too, use canvas paper for practice.

You can definitely see the improvement in the second one.

Since every sky we see looks different, it's hard to say what is right or wrong when doing a sky.

the clouds look great Lisa. The second attempt is much better on the blending. :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:
what you can do is when these clouds are dry (2nd one), come back and add a highlight of white on the tops on the sun side O0

:thankyou: Nolan, I will give that a try. I am off to do the trees while I wait for the sky background to dry for the wet on dry clouds.  :)

My poor clouds. Can you see the clouds?  ;D I think I will be a "cloudless day" painter.  While doing, the colors seemed right to me.  :faint: Figure is still the problem. OK. I scratched the canvas. I painted the sky again. I'll try again tomorrow.

I think your clouds look nice. Some darker values added in might make them more realistic, but other than that they look well done to me. I wouldn’t  scrap the painting, you could keep adding darks and lights until you are happy with the way they look.

Emmalee thank you for your advice.  :flowers:  I tried to do this time with darker value.  But what is dark for me never looks dark enough.  :eyesclosed:

Your paintings are so wonderful

Second trial. Maybe a little good but not better! I think there is a problem with light and shadows. What do you think?

I think it’s much better. Looks like a bright sunny day to me!
Don’t be afraid of dark values, the darks make the lights look brighter.
