Sometimes i scratch off graphite off the pencil onto the paper and then it seems to take better than to use cloth to rub graphite off of paper.   I also find using a pair of my husbands old cotton underwear work well.  ::)

Nolan, thank you for your comments.
I lightened the outlines.  Hope it looks a little better.  I think I should have done thinner and lighter lines for the eaves and the shadows that made it have a heavy look.

Nice job on the revised lighthouse, Liz.

Glad Nolan wrote about not rubbing the graphite too hard.  That's what I was doing wrong - kept getting the smooth surface.
