I must connfess I haven't rally been following the videos too closely at all so my approach is a bit different,,,,
Basically I am working on 50cm x 40 cm Hardboard which has a sort of ochre-ish/raw sienna ground which I carved up into a grid with 5cm sections and painted in some key lines. Painted in the sky first and mixed up a few greens which I have used to block in and state colour and tonal values. As the image itself is fairly detailes I plan to do it in 3 stages this... (blocking in and plotting) being the first of them...Stage 2 will focus on unifying colours and 3, detailing to tie it all together,,, I kinda like the neutral ground as it's showing through the sky here and there giving it a believable tuscan warmth,,,, hope it works out as planned...

STAGE 2.... (One or two compositional annoyances I'm going to fix but otherwise about where I want it,,, think detailing will make it pop)... Now the fun begins!
I have to say I am very impressed by the images others have shared here... think a lot of us have our own takes on the subject which is great! I've got it to this point... time to take a look at the videos now I reckon

Really beautiful paintings here. Surprising how similar this scene is to many areas here in Mexico.
John your painting is coming on famously. Looking forward to seeing its completion.
I am hoping to improve on architectural drawing as there are so many old churches and cathedrals here, not to mention the old haciendas. So many arches and details in the buildings. I think I shall have a look at this lesson and see what I can ascertain from it.

Been sitting on this for a few months and now that I have my frame making tools/carpenrty projects etc out of the way decided to try finish it today.... not quite there,, a few small retouches... Think the photo doesn't do it much justice though,,,, think the wet paint here and there threw the focus a bit
