Hello friends,
Just a question: today I received an e-mail from Nolan (Art by Nolan) about "Mistake # 25", where he was talking about mistakes done when the artist make a sketch, doing something wrong, as proportions, perspective, etc. and show to us some solution in order to avoid these mistakes.

One among them, it's about the use of the "Printouts", as showing below.

(4) Printouts
My favourite way of redrawing a scene that I need 100% accurate (when working from a photo) is to print out the photo to the same dimensions as my canvas. Many software programs allow you to print out a photo on multiple pages, which you then tile together to make one large image.

I would like to know if someone knows what kind of software is this?
I will appreciate if someone can give me some comments about my question.
Please, accept my thanks in advance for your attention and care to my e-mail.
Best regards,
Harry N.

Hi Harry, I am using the software "Post it" , and is free. It prints on several 8x11 pages; then you have to assembly them and trace it on the canvas or paper. Good luck :)

I don't use an actual software package. It's one of the printing options on my printer.

I use a program called Poster it! to prepare photos for printing on multiple sheets.

It's Windows only.
First I use a photo program to size the image to the correct dimensions then I save that image and open it in Poster it!

UPS can print things out in larger sizes. Ours can only print up to a 11x17. It only cost 0.20 us. It cost me more than that  in ink if I use my printer at home. That is a black and white copy. One in color is 0.80. You can even order online if you are ordering enough prints of multiple pictures to make it worth paying online. Line up your next several paints and do them all at once. Then you just go up to get them when they're finished.
