Hi Ella.
Hope you enjoyed the demo this morning.

Beautifully done portrait. Excellent work. I'm just missing two tiny details to make it really come alive, and that is the pupils are too softly put in. Darken up the pupils, even if the photograph has them reduced somewhat. It does not not matter what colour the eyes are, the pupils are always dark. Use a black or any other very dark colour pastel pencil (charcoal stick) to darken them up with.

You will find that I am a stickler when it comes to the eyes, human or animal, it does not matter - windows to the soul  It is ALWAYS the eyes that make the portrait.

I appreciate your feedback Dennis.  I think its very important not to spend too much time on any drawing otherwise you forget the very important details.  I forget to rest, or stand back and and observe and also to ask another's opinion. Thank you for the complement

  Hi Ella... Another brilliant job. I agree about the eyes, one question Dennis...I had it mentioned that I sometimes make the pupils too dark. Is that possible?
