I just completed this lesson. Very in depth and loads to learn, thank you Dennis. I unfortunately messed up the paper trying to clean a spot of dropped color. I used a Mr Clean sponge and my paper shredded..But, the important thing is I did the flowers and completed the lesson. (I even made it worse after taking this photo! )
Yikes, oh well, chalk this one up to practice. Comments and suggestions appreciated!

Shame I didn´t get to this earlier! I´d have told you it was an excellent go... then when you came back and said you´d mucked it up... I could have played at being Dennis and told you, ¨When I tell you it´s excellent, DON´T touch it!!!
Would have been so much fun to turn the tables on someone else!
Your blending and shadings look really good MaryLou, but don´t touch the next one until after we see it!

You will notice on my original photo, right side just above last petal, I had ruined the paper with a Mr Clean eraser. After taking the photo, I tried fixing it and made it worse! The paper pilled. Well, I decided, it was basically ruined anyway so why not give it a go at saving it. I used a nail filing block and filed down the pills making the paper smooth again, then I painted another ballerina. Saved? Your comments are appreciated!

That has happened to me many many times. I learned pretty quickly that if the paper pills... give it a good rub with the back of a spoon and it usually lays down pretty smooth. Good fix also if you happen to pull up some paper when removing tape.

Oops, thanks Val, but I forgot to put in the photo of the new fixed painting with the added flower.
I have been making so many silly mistakes lately. A side effect of getting older
. Anywho, here it is...I know the spoon fix but this was little bits of pilled paper not something the spoon would fix, but sanding it worked well.
