Ultra Marine Blue question....again.

I've only got "fumes" left of my French U M Blue, sooooo.....is Windsor Blue pretty close?

Winsor Blue is about the closest you'll get to French Ultramarine Blue. Just keep in mind for mixing that the Winsor Blue comes in a Red shade and a Green Shade. Hope this has helped a bit.

Thanks, Doina.  Interesting article on Wet Canvas.  Sure is a confusing topic.

As with flavors of potato chips, salad dressings, and everything else, WHY?  If the world would stick to the old basic flavor, food would be much less expensive.  Same for paints!

Thanks Mea, Val n Doina.  I remembered, Val, you had asked the same question. Didn't get an answer there, but then, I didn't have Windsor Blue either.

I won't be letting my stock get that low again! I have a friend bringing my supply to Roatan from Guatemala in Jan., large 35ml. tube and I have 3 15ml. tubes to take back as well as a couple of full pans sent from England. That should keep me going for a while!

On thing to keep in mind is that the Winsor Blues (both shades) are staining colors. Ultramarine is not, though it is a granulating color.
