Clivus, the mapping pen is ultrafine. I moved to a larger pen for the thicker lines and for easier filling in.

Thanks for answering Dennis.  I was just watching the rest of the video this morning and noticed how you went back to the mapping pen to do the thinner strokes when doing the shading on the leaves.  Makes sense.  My mapping pen isn't quite fine, so my shading wasn't as light until I realized why.

Here is my attempt at the flowers on piano.  I didn't use watercolors but instead used color pens.  I used a nib and ink for all of the black portions and then switched to color pens for everything else.  I did the background using a dark grey pen.  Probably should have gone with a lighter pen to capture the background the way Dennis did using a lighter watercolor.  My piano keys didn't turn out as straight as I thought they would considering I traced the image.  I don't know if the curvy piano keys gives it more character or takes away the depth of the picture.

Any feedback for improvement is appreciated.

Yes, the less-than-perfectly straight keys do give it character.  I like the look of it in pen and ink.

It is really quite lovely.

I can remember an old upright piano as well as an old pump organ we had in the antiques shop that had slightly curved tops on the black keys. Perhaps that piano is just a bit older than we thought! 

Beautifully done Clivus.     I like Dennis' honky tonk idea... great fun!

I transfered the image to my studio wall. Did this in acrylic and outline with a brush pen. It is untidy and very messy and rather big. I am however leaving it as is.
Was just for fun and the add a bit of life to a drab wall.

  Love it Maryna! Would love to do similar to some walls here... unfortunately the landlord wouldn't appreciate it much. He was upset over previous tenants painting one wall orange... but I got him to leave it. Too many cream coloured walls.
