Dan,

Wow, you are really making progress.  This is well done, especially the sun on the water.

Except for the trees on the top of the ridge looking a little too fat and pointy, I'd say you learned this lesson well.

Oh, are the two birds in the foreground part of your signature?  If so, cute idea, but they should be flying INTO the painting to draw the eye in.
