Sounded like something from the exorcist! Wonder if my head was spinning?       :2funny:

That's o.k. Just don't regurgitate any of that green pea soup on your drawing! ;)

Thank you Win.  :1hug:

I have to admit though that I did slack off on the contour shadings of the rocks on the left of the doorway.    Maybe one day in a galaxy, far, far away... no, I think not!  ;D

Good job, Val.  It's a wonderful picture, and I love the colors. I'm so glad you dug it out....looks super!!
I use the stick pastels when I can't get a pencil the right color. I don't have a large selection of pencils, but I do have some awesome colors in the pastel box. You can kinda rub them to a half decent point for detail work.
Again....Good for you.  Its terrific!

Magnificent effort Val. The door has an awesome tone shadowing and the rocks are very nicely colored. Congrats  :yippee: :yippee:

Thank you much Retta, Zayn, and Juan. Your encouragement keeps me going! This was a tough go, but I'm glad I finished it.

Retta, there were so many times I wanted to just pack it in or switch to the pan pastels like I did with the tiger. But the lesson was pencils and I was determined to see it through.  :crazy2: I think I'll be keeping the pencils for fine detail work should I need it....but not a complete picture!  :faint:    ;D

Hello everyone,

Stones, lots of stones!! Interesting lesson to learn, thanks Dennis. I put a lot of attention on the door and inner shadows. Seems like only Val and I have taken this challenge so far. I recommend this lesson in terms of using the pastels to paint wood and combine colors to define rock walls such as this one. Please comments are very welcome.

Cheers

Actually, I have to correct myself, since Val, Retta, Nina, Natalie (with beautiful outcomes by the way) and I painted it....
