Bruce, thanks for the artist trick to use hard pastel first on the cold pressed paper. I like using watercolor paper better than pastel paper. The pastel paper is a little too thin for me.

This is a wonderful portrait and I too think you should finish it.  It's amazing.  And thanks for the info about the cold pressed paper. I currently am using pastel paper and it is so flimsy :clap: :clap: :clap:

Thank you all for the lovely comments. I just found the original ref image for the Allan study... you will see that I've change the colour temps slightly in the skin tones to give a little more impact and drama to the painting
