It had been a long rough winter but after having a knee cap and a shoulder out of place it can only get better! :injured: I finally finished a drawing of the sand dunes.  I'm not real happy with the right side of the picture and not real sure I like the foot prints.I think I should draw it again but would like some feed back first

 Nice  one, you would have to add more tonal value though.   we all had fun with that one mostly with the sand.   You should see the others that were on the forum it might help.   Ps you can also follow the thread under sand dones and put yours to it.

Hey, Shirl.  Good to see you back on the forum.  Hope you'll be all healed up in no time.

I had trouble with the-footprints-in-the-sand drawing, too.

Yes, as Danielle said, it's good to go through the forum thread and see how others did it.  Yours seem too uniform - little soldiers-in-a-row kind of footprints.  Not sure I know how to tell you the best way to fix that.  I think sand prints have sloping sides, whereas snow prints look more like the ones you have.

Regardless, you did a good job for your first try at it.

On the right hand side it is very light, you could add more tonal value.

great job Shirl

The right side grass is too light, add more contrast there.

The footprint technique is fine, the shapes are just too round. You would see them like this if you were looking from overhead, like in an aeroplane. Flatten them off so the are narrower from to top to bottom.

After several tries I got this.  I messed up a weed on the right side then messed up the sky trying to fix the weed.   while I know they are far from prefect I hope they are a lot better than last time

Oh, yes, Shirl.  Definitely better footprints-in-the-sand now.  Right side weeds have more umph to them now.

Good girl for sticking with it.

 thanks Mea   I can see the foot prints in the sand as foot prints in the snow too.  I actually see more snow where I live than sand.  I would like to get good enough some day to draw trees covered in ice it is really beautiful.
