I knew I needed more practice with tonal ranges so remembered Nolan's lesson on the Misty Forest. I can see now how important the darks are for pushing the lighter stuff into the distance. Funway to learn this concept, Nolan.
Details
I started out making a mess of the leaves, but finally seemed to catch on to the shapes. I still need to practice making small tree branches, too.
I'm always amazed at how not doing anything in a particular area can end up being the focal point of the entire drawing.
My husband says this reminds him of the wallpaper in the house where he grew up in Vermont!
