I did this painting on a 5" x 7" canvas board for my Stepmother's 95th birthday card.
I'm not absolutely sure that they are starlings, but it was the closest match I could find on the internet.
The painting is sharper and a bit more colourful than this picture, but I still can't really get the right setup with paintshop.

It is lovely, Alan. Starlings are black. The bird on the left looks like a bluebird. The one on the left might be a goldfinch.

Now you see where my confusion lies. Starlings come in a variety of colours and the ones pictured here are called "Hildebrandt Starlings" and are native to many parts of Africa. Apparently they are all pests.

Wow! Thanks for informing us, Alan. I just Googled this species, and the colors of the birds are magnificent! I always enjoyed seeing "new" (to me) birds when I lived in Africa, but I hadn't seen these. They are gorgeous.
