Thanks, Patricia.

OK, I see what you mean about the left window.  Will adjust it.

I got a bit lazy with the second mechanic, didn't I!

Thanks, Natalie.  Doing the mist is a lot like doing clouds.  Fun.

wow, great job Rachel, Ryan and Mea :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:

To clean my eraser, I rub it over my pants - I am usually wearing jeans so it cleans with one wipe.

Mea - just use your pen shaped eraser to fiddle in a few suggestions of detail into the windows so it looks like you can see the stuff on the inside of the cockpit O0

Thanks, Danielle.  This one was fun.

Thanks, Nolan.  I'll make those tweaks.   Yikes, the black stuff is now on your jeans!

Here's my first (unfinished) attempt... I even managed to snap my pencil in the same place as Nolan... pressing too hard!

I need to make sure that I have something thicker under the paper - on the underside of the left wing I can see the wood grain from the table!

Also... the steam (yes it is steam, not mist as the F14 Tomcat uses a steam launch mechanism from the aircraft carrier)... looks more like someone tried to rub out some graphite with an eraser rather than steam to me. I think that technique will need some practice!... hints please!!

I was impressed with how the light through the cockpit glass worked, but I must get a better 'eraser pen'... I had trouble getting one, and the one I did has a 'point' about 4mm thick...  :(

O0 Nice work Adrian.  Your steam looks good but probably needs a smoothing over in places with a cloth. However, Nolan will give you his advice when he manages to see it.   Looking forward to the finished drawing.

Adrian,

I agree - you did a good job on this.  You did a great job on the cockpit.  I had trouble with that, but it looked better after I made the tweaks that Nolan suggested.

I use a blending stick and rub it around the steam to add a more blotchy look to it.

Thanks for the comments about attempt #1, here is my second effort.

Rather than adjusting the original I thought I would start again. I used better backing this time, and managed to get the dark areas without texture of the table beneath!

I also smoothed over the steam again after the first 'rub out' and it seemed to make a better finish.

One area I see is that the left wing is too fat towards the tip, the top and bottom surface are too parallel.

Adrian,

Yes, so much better on this attempt.  There's a huge difference.

Proud of you!

great job Adrian :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:

to sort your stream woes, soften the edges of the steam with a clean cloth or even your finger to get rid of the hard edges / found lines O0
