Mea, Patricia and Natalie--Thanks for patiently looking--I think this probably bores people. It has become an easy way to track my journey in the class instead of bringing all the drawings out. Mea, I am doing 2 kinds of classes. The pastels aren't really classes but open studio where you just go to practice with a model, no instruction, and the drawing times are much shorter. The charcoal drawings are mostly from portrait class where the instructor circulates to give critique. Tonight we focused on drawing 8 vertical plumb lines to check accuracy. Essentially the outer edges of eyes, nose, mouth and edges of the face to see what they intersect all the way down the body. It really helps. She also talks about NOT drawing features like an outline but attending to getting the bigs shapes right like size and shape of forehead, cheeks, size of hair etc and leaving the small shapes to last. Even then she says, draw the values around the eyes to get the eyes (such as the space between the eyes called the glabella) etc.

Wow, this one is really good, Lynn. Looks like you put hours into it, not minutes.
So glad you are making the most of this opportunity.

Very interesting Lynn, totally backward to the way I would normally draw!
That in in itself would be a major challenge. I'm still following you closely here, my pine cone is taking longer than even I would have thought!
You are doing great and moving at the speed of lightning!

Thanks Mea, Lisa, Fi and Val. Val, I too wouldn't put her in this direction, however, since it is life drawing, we are assigned an easel and thus a certain view. We have to change easels with each new model so we don't get too comfortable with a certain perspective! Eager to have you come along. I am very curious about that pine cone but no time to do watercolor at the moment.

Thanks again Patricia. You are so kind. Mea, you should check around. Life drawing is more available than I thought. There has been an open studio for life drawing in a rented room just blocks from me for 9 years and I never knew. Often they are advertised is any art school but you have to go on there website. If you get a chance to just draw, even without instruction, you learn tons!!!
