Oh Val, I miss my charcoal drawing partner. Can't wait to see what you produce after you are hold up for a while!
Thanks Cyril. Nice compliment coming from you. I can see you are great with portraits. I have to say that drawing from life is a blast if you ever get a chance to do it.

Thanks Danielle. I am actually having as much fun meeting artists in this group as drawing. The moderator is a quite well know artist, and she keeps bringing other well know n folks to the studio. Tonight Elaine Augustine, a well known pastel artist showed up to draw. She is in town to give a demo painting at the Degas Pastel Society exhibit here. It was fun meeting her and I plan to go to the demo Sat. Our model was Chris tonight. Here is my charcoal of him, 3 20 min. sittings as usual.

This was our model, Madeleine tonight. Tried to just focus on getting her face and features close to right.

This is my first blue easel club portrait. The model is a local art legend who teaches oil painting. He comes for 2 nights so the sitting is about 6-7 20 min sections. I was slow but I believe I did got a likeness and was happy with it. The level of instruction is wonderful!

Wow Your work is amazing!
Wonderfully detailed. It must have been the best one done in that class.

Thanks so much Danielle, Mea and Val!!! You guys are so kind. Nolan, your portrait class was such an eye opener for me and made me realize how much I love portraiture. I would never have had the guts to join life drawing without the confidence I gained in that class. Now, I already have a decent idea of facial features, planes of the face, value structure, thirds of face etc. This is given me a real edge so I thank you immensely!!!
