Well, i am starting over. I tried working on it some more the other day (horrid weather, too rough, nasty squalls), and I only succeeded in giving this poor creature a horrid black eye!  :o My attempts at correcting the situation only made it worse  so that is gone and done and i'm starting again.  :strong:

Val, I am sure when the sea calms and you get to paint the cat to its finality, you will have done a superb job as all your art is.  You are so capable and such an inspiration to us all.   Patricia

Val

You can do it. Don't give up on the cat. You have the artist' skill to accomplish the task.  :painting:

Thanks Patricia, and Juan. I have finished the eyes!!!  :yippee: What else is there to do at 0145 in the morning?!  :heeha:

I also started to have a go at a freehand of Nolan's effe (elephant) in my sketchbook!  :tooth:

When the urge strikes.... you just have to go with it!   :goofy:      :2funny:

Most of his face is done, had to stop last night as I forgot to charge up the battery and my little computer died.    My printer isn't working well at all so need to work from the screen. Doing my best to fix proportions as I go, but I think it's coming along ok. Hoping to find an art shop.... I really need to get some more colours!  ^-^

Val, I have no doubt that when finished, the cat's portrait is going to be top class.    Patricia

Almost done, I was hoping to have him finished before the pastel party  ;)

Anyway, just thought I'd show what I have. Is anyone else using the pan pastels? I can always use a few pointers!

Looking good so far, Val!      Don't forget to work on the cat's left ear. Without the hair it looks like the ear is turned backward. :)

Thanks Steve, yes I haven't done the hairs or whiskers as yet. Funny thing with the pan pastel, seems the pencils don't want to work overtop of the pan pastel. Will have to think a bit more on that one. Hoping I'll find an art shop in Mexico that will have the pans, I really need some of the colourless blending pastel, will help make blending and  transitions much easier.

Appreciate your comments.  :)

Val. Amazing execution of the cat. As far as it goes, it's going to turn into a great painting.

I haven't tried pan pastels yet; I was looking those the other day on Blick. They are not sold around here, so I'll probably have to order them and be shipped to try them. Maybe Dennis have a better opinion about it.

Cheers

Dennis hasn't tried them as yet.... maybe with a little coercing?!  >:D

They don't work quite the same as the stick pastels, big learning curve for me. If you do buy them, make certain you get one of the colourless blending pans. I'm on the hunt for some, makes the blending/transition of colours much easier. The pastel pencils don't seem to work over top of the pan pastel. Still trying to figure out how I'm going to add the whiskers.

Thanks for your comments. Much appreciated.  :)
