   Coming along beautifully Zilpa.  I just LOVE the detail in each piece that you do which I think is why I am so fascinated with your encaustic artwork.

or longer...
Here is a question for you - does the wood not give off a fume as you burn it? Is there a concern about breathing that in?

:thankyou: Patricia, when I first started, I went for subjects I knew I could easily do. Now I go for subjects that challenge me. Each one has an ellement in it that I have not done, or that I find hard to do. That is what keeps me excited doing each piece.

Yes it would be a problem if I was in a small enclosed area Nolan, then I would use an extractor fan, but I am in a big building with plenty of ventilation, so it is not a problem. My area is 20’ wide x 50’long and about 18’ high with a double front door which is always open and double side door which are open when not windy. I will find some photos to show you.

that's good. I know the wood turners wear masks so was just wondering if you needed to take the same precautions.
Your detail is looking fantastic O0

:thankyou: Nolan, when I was burning at home I used an extraction fan for burning and I always use a mask when mixing encaustic medium with dry pigment. If I am burning dark I tend to use my easel, that way any fumes do not come up at me. With the smaller ones I use a table easel.

Today I started painting The Stables. I managed to get as nice smooth sky, by melting wax in a pot and painting it on with a hogshair brush and fusing with a heat gun.
